I am currently working on converting WM from svn to git.
It's a pretty easy and quick process, but I just need one thing from you guys.
Currently, with svn, commits are attributed to usernames. But with git, they are attributed to fullname and email.
If you are a commiter to svn, could you pm me your desired name and email for git commits, thanks!

This seems like jumping the gun a bit. Did we have a discussion about making this change somewhere?

Perhaps git would make sense with the long term project direction; Perhaps it would make it easier for individual games to integrate some things back and forth w/us while still keeping their private game stuff in their own private source control. (On the other hand, prior to new games wanting to spin up their new private repos, newcomers to git are likelier to fail to contribute to the core WheelMUD since even simple bug fixes take multiple steps to migrate the code rather than just one "commit" even if they're not operating in their own branch.Wink

Finally, I think we'd want at least Fasta's buy-off on this change, or better yet, letting him make/control the change, if he wants to, as he's been the system administrator for all the myriad of our resources here.

He's not really migrating us to Git. I told him to put it on Git for testing. He wanted the names so that people could play with WheelMUD code on Git.

Testing... as in, seeing if we want to move to git? (Hope I'm not sounding confrontational; I'm just lost.Wink

No problem. As you have mentioned in a previous post, our systems are integrated with Subversion, so officially, we are not moving\mirgrating\etc. Pure wanted to use Git, and told him to create a fork and host it on Github. He really wants to use WM as the engine for a game he has in mind. WM is not currently up to where it needs to be, and he wanted to add some features.
He posted here, because Git's metadata is different than Subversion's. He was asking for info for the people that have accounts in our Subversion repository, so that they can play with the Git repository, if they feel so inclined.
Nothing is official unless one of us two (Karak and Fastalanasa) discuss it, and one of us two announces it. Cool
Did that clear things up?

Yup, everything makes sense now.
